This challenge brief was created to illustrate the nuanced and interconnected systemic issues that are associated with accessing employment if you are someone who is living on income assisstance. The work is based on interviews held with DTES social enterprise employers and income assistance advocates.

  • Unacknowledged value of flexible, non-traditional employment

  • Disincentivize to employment created by earnings exemption limits/clawbacks
